All about Mrs. Gegen
This is my third year to teach 3rd grade,5th year as a teacber. I am loving them so much! There is a ton to learn in 3rd grade and I really enjoy teaching them what they have to know. I have said I wanted to be a teacher ever since I was in the 3rd grade myself! I grew up in Cushing and wanted to stay close to home so I went to OSU and decided Sillwater would be my forever home! My favorite colors are pink & teal! I love to eat, pretty much any food but I could eat Mexican food every day and not get sick of it! I love to read and watch movies! I love chocolate and popcorn as my snacks!
I am married with 2 children, a boy and girl. My daughter is in 1st this year and my son is just a baby
I would love to have open communication with parents so please get with me with any questions or concerns... I do have a facebook group for this class... just search Mrs. Gegen's 3rd grade class to be added.... here I will be posting reminders and things like that.. I will still be sending home letters as well but sometimes those don't make it home.

READING & Spelling
Spelling this year is more of a focus on phonics and vocab... we will be working with phonics skills and do vocab lessons daily. We will not have a weekly spelling test, so there will be no list of set words to take home and study. I am hoping that making this change will be better in long term- instead of just memorizing the spelling words they will be learning more skills to keep with them long term.
Reading tests will be on Thursday's. We do one story a week.
The following website has all of the spelling words and reading skills that we will be working on. There are also many games and activities. (Many great Math exercises!)
