Glencoe high school teachers and staff wore their "Jolliest Bunch of Teachers this Side of the Nuthouse!" shirts, inspired by Miss Crow and Mrs. Eason, for the last day of the 2024 fall semester. -- Story and photo by Savanna Clark -- for the Panther yearbook.
Junior Nola Ross and freshman Teagan Voight are the high school Students of the Month for October. Below, they were caught under an umbrella as Glencoe received some much-needed rainy weather recently. Nola and Teagan are known not only for their outstanding work in class but their many school activities and citizenship in the community.
The junior high October Students of the Month were seventh-grader Harper Currant and eighth-grader Trystan Waid. Here, Harper assists Trystan try on a souvenir hardhat for size.
Principal Brady Maxwell named Glencoe High School and Junior High November Students of the Month Monday. Below, senior Morgan Matheson offers junior Chance Waters an opportunity to see what he might look like with a mustache -- free of charge. If you know Chance, you know he very politely declined.
Kaelynn Gegen and A.J. Morrow, both seventh graders, represented the junior high. For some off-season fun, they played "Who's at bat first?" on a shovel handle, no less. Anyone know what that decades-old baseball ritual is actually called? -- By Panther yearbook staff.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving!
How does it feel being a turkey? According to this one (who was actually Elementary Principal Lindsay Bailey), "It's hot. Especially around Thanksgiving!"
Ms. Bailey delighted many of her students Wednesday in the GPS cafeteria as Cheryl Jeffrey's staff served perhaps the most popular meal of the year -- turkey with dressing and gravy, green beans, rolls, salad, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. -- Story by MaKenna Pace, photo by Malechi Rains for the Panther yearbook.

Glencoe resident Roy Blankinship, left, presented a Quilt of Honor to his younger brother Marion Blankinship for his service to the United States during the Vietnam conflict. Roy had previously been honored with a quilt presentation. He honored his brother at the GPS Veteran's Day celebration in the Jennifer Lazenby Event Center Monday. With the high school students and staff in attendance, each of the elementary classes from Pre-K to the sixth grade sang patriotic songs or recited poetry to honor local veterans -- 11 of whom were present. The Blankinship brothers each served in the US Navy off the coast of Vietnam in the late 1960's . Glencoe Public Schools salutes the Blankinships and all our veterans.
Seniors Kali Harting and Brennan Tillman were elected Homecoming Queen and King by fellow Glencoe High athletes Friday evening. The crown and ball bearers were Rory Weston and Karsen Snyder. The Queen's Court, from left to right, were Grace Sloan, Lisa Gottfried, Savanna Clark, Queen Kali Harting, Christyn Ray and Brooklyn Ross. In the basketball action that followed, the Lady Panthers beat Mulhall-Orlando 53-40 and the Panthers defeated M-O 53-27.
