The Glencoe PTO held its annual Carnival Thursday on a hot October evening. While the weather may have slowed activities outside in the booths and competitions, Bingo remained as popular as ever in the cool air of the cafeteria.
The highlight of all activities, the crowning of the Lower and Upper Elementary royalty was held in the old gym. The elementary kids sold raffle tickets for the chance to be named candidates of their class in the King and Queen contests. They raised more than $5,500 for the PTO which in turn funds many educational activities for all Glencoe schools.
Pictures of class candidates and the Kings and Queens follow in the next posts.
Named 2024 PTO Carnival Queen and King of the Upper Elementary were, at left, Elcee Stossel and Hunter Mills. Elcee is the daughter of Callan and Rachel Stossel. Hunter is the son of Isaiah and Chelsea Watkins.
Lower Elementary Queen and King were Rebel Ross and Hunter Hughes. Rebel is the daughter of Dalton and Sarah Ross. Hunter is the son of Brittany Day.
Photos of all the candidates and more are on the GPS Facebook page.

Members of the freshman Biology I class with Mrs. Dershem recently conducted an experiment to demonstrate how osmosis allows certain fluids to pass through permeable membranes. They used an assortment of chemicals to change the color of the inside of eggs without cutting into the egg. In the photo, Hennessey Cowan reacts to a change in her egg after dissolving the shell.
